Darija Stipanic

My name is Darija Stipanić. My maiden name was Brajan and I was born 1973. in Rijeka in Croatia.  I graduated at interdiscilplinary study of Fine Art and Art History of the Teacher Tr.aining Faculty at the University of Rijeka  in 1997.

I had several solo exhibitons and participated art exhibitions in Croatia and foreign countries, I received few awards and recognitions for my art and I am a member of Croatian visual art society in Rijeka.

            Creating art is my life. It is the inner need that drives me. That is the need for expressing  emotions and experiences. It is research, it is a game, it is a challenge and need for frequent change. Sometimes my motivation to make art is the interpretation of nature that I see. In other cases, it’s just my internal life; thoughts and beliefs.

I am a sculptor but I also paint, draw and occasionally print. I like applied art and some of my work is from that area.

           For my paintings and drawings I use mixed technique. Paintings are usually on canvas or on some type of wooden blackboard. They have strong texture, made with a layers of color (acrylic paint) and also with a use of a different materials (paper, fabric, sand, silicone and wood sawdust, what ever drops on my mind…)

Most of my work is abstract, and I mostly find inspiration in nature. Sometimes my inspiration is music and literature, and sometimes just my thoughts and emotions.
